My grandmother and my mother (mom-daughter). The Dynamic Duo. They were telling me about the George Benson concert they went to with my Pops. Specifically the old playa in the seersucker suit with a backwards newsboy hat on…with orange huarache sandals. Hilarious. Mom: “Couldn’t tell him he wasn’t clean.” Grandma: “Would’ve had to fight him.” I’m still laughing. Life has the best comedy. Love em both dearly. #personalfavorites #family #oldwannabeplayasarefunny

Part one of the gig here at the Indianapolis Zoo. Running sound for the ceremony. Playing “Too Shy To Say” by Stevie, this song is perfect; James Jamerson on upright bass too. DJing the reception later. We shall #jaaam accordingly there but for now, we are letting The Love reign! #personalfavorites #loveislove #albumcutking

#tbt 6th grade me, as happy as a lark. Violin was the first instrument I learned formally. My teacher was mean and I didn’t like her at all but I loved playing. My sister played before me. My mom and uncle played clarinet (I used to try to play the clarinet in the summer while my parents were at work when I was in elementary school…horrible squeaking!). Pops played trumpet. Older cousins played saxophone and drums. Aunt played clarinet and piano (she has been playing in churches for a solid 30+ years now). Great grandmother played a little piano; I’ve only heard her play “Old Rugged Cross” though. It’s a family thing. I can remember going to my great-grandmother’s house and attempting to play the upright piano in the living room. That was a favorite event of trips to Gary. My aunt would show me a few little things to keep me from driving her crazy with my awful thunder hands playing. I played trumpet in 7th grade and learned everything else afterwards. School music education was a big key to sparking my own curiosity. My family ties made me more comfortable branching out into other ways to make music. Thankful for all the encouraging people on my life along the way, and my mean orchestra teacher. She taught me how to focus on my own creative output regardless of outside opinion. #personalfavorites #musicandme

New new from Mono/Poly (Brainfeeder) “Golden Skies” is great after initial listens. I love going to the record store, usually @lunamusic or @indycdandvinyl, and getting new music AND talking about music with staff. The cover reminds me of Earth, Wind and Fire. #jaaam #personalfavoritespossible #brainfeeder #shootingforaBrainfeederrelease #ooowee #chill #funky

I saw a silhouette of my profile and thought of this TV show. I used to watch this on Nick at Nite. I love the theme music especially. #randomthought #personalfavorites #NickAtNite

I call this “The Forever Bass” and it was made by Karl Hoyt. Karl does custom basses from start to finish and he really hooked this up. Wenge and mahogany body, maple neck and fretboard. Great electronics and plays well. I love it. Nice to have an instrument that makes me want to play more. If you know anyone in the market, check Karl Hoyt out. It’s custom work BUT it’s not gonna kill your pockets and it is worth it. You’ll hear it soon enough! #bass #personalfavorites #karlhoyt #thundah

Woke up with this album in mind. Proceeded to play it loudly and dance wildly on the way to work and in the parking lot. A solid #personalfavorites album. Front to back. I distinctly remember playing this in my Pops’ Lumina after I installed a CD player for the car. Looking back, that was pretty cool that he let me do that. This will ensure a great day for me! #insearchof #NERD

I looked at my bobble head assortment this morning and wanted to include one in my school picture. My coworker suggested Mr. T so I grabbed him. And here’s the result. No time for the jibba jabba. Worth noting, one of my colleagues wore a Captain America mask and had the shield too for his picture. #fun #MrT #personalfavorites #pityingfoolsisahabit

Walked into the building this morning and saw some students putting these on lockers. I’m choosing to believe that “Gotta keep your head up” is from 2Pac. What a welcome sight on a Monday morning! The youth get it, they really do and we have to support them and get with it too. #personalfavorites #positivity #love #peace #everylifematters
